Eduard Sharmazanov: Artsakh Has the Right of Independence as Slovakia, Armenia and Azerbaijan

On May 24, the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of Armenia-Slovakia Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov met with the Head of Slovakia-Armenia Friendship Group Dušan Tittel within the framework of the visit to Slovakia.

The sides touched upon the perspectives of the development of bilateral relations, In the development of the Armenian-Slovak inter-parliamentary cooperation the activities of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups are reserved special role. The effective cooperation of the parliamentary delegations of the two countries on the international platforms is highlighted.

The RA NA Deputy Speaker expressed his gratitude to Dušan Tittel for supporting the organization of the exhibition with the heading Parliamentarians against Genocides in the Parliament of Slovakia. He highly assessed the recognition and condemnation of the Armneian Genocide by the Parliament of Slovakia.

Regarding the regional developments Eduard Sharmazanov underlined: “We, the parliamentarians, should reject any manifestation of violence and xenophobia. Today, Turkey and Azerbaijan implement Armenophobia campaign which is condemnable. The international community should recognize the right of the Artsakh people’s inseparable self-determination. Artsakh has the right of independence as Slovakia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.”

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov handed the RA NA Medal of Honour to Dušan Tittel for strengthening of Slovakia-Armenia friendship relations, and the NA Speaker’s Memorial Medal to the Armenian Philanthropist Bagrat Hakobyan for his significant contribution to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
